CIARLAbride Debuts at The Wedding Salon in NYC

Last week I flew to New York to launch both the "Alice" and "Classic" Collections at the Roosevelt Hotel with a company called The Wedding Salon. Thousands of brides searching for high-end vendors attended the show with hopes in finding the right contacts to translate their visions of the perfect wedding. Being the largest event The Wedding Salon has ever hosted a mass of people flew by our booth and grabbed lookbooks and cards. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend as much time as we like with each bride, so if you attended the event and have more questions please feel free to contact our office at jciarla@ciarla.com and someone will follow up with a call.

A pleasant surprise was Sylvia Weinstock who spoke about her collection of exquisite wedding cakes that can cost around  $20,000.

A special thanks to my friends Melissa, Chris and Robin (aka Lil) who helped me prepare and setup for the show. I never could have done it without you guys!

Also a big thanks to Yoga Champion/Model Courtney Mace, who wore the couture CIARLA heirloom gown, a preview of an eco-luxury wedding gown collection set to be released this fall.

Unfortunately, a list of interested NYC brides is not all I took home with me. I've been stuck in bed with the flu for the past few days so everyone please take your vitamins! Something viscous  is going around both coasts:)

Falling Down the Rabbit Hole...

I seem to be in an Alice in Wonderland mood this month which may explain the design of my recent collection. Maybe it's the unstable economy or mercury is in retrograde again (nope, I checked) but a lot of artists also seem to be inspired by the "Alice" trend. So, I decided to write a little article for the Fashion Spot which is an online magazine I freelance for. Along with the article are a few of my favorite Alice inspired photos. Hope you enjoy!

The Alice Trend: Artists Are Enraptured With Traveling to Wonderland from Couture to Bridal to Film

Alice in Wonderland takes us down the rabbit hole into a funhouse world of upside down rules and unpredictable characters. Creative, weird and oddly inspiring, artists seem to be using the imagery and possibly more insightful meanings of the novel into many of their creations. From fashion school projects to couture shows in Paris, the fairytale adventures of this proper, English girl in a world full of chaos translates to a plethora of artistic mediums.

Photographer Anne Leibowitz Shot and Alice in Wonderland shoot for Vogue that became an iconic favorite using couture designers as the supporting cast.

Gwen Stafani was inspired by the over the top Alice theme on a past solo albulm.

Designer Gareth Pugh recreated a modern, fairytale Queen in his white and black gown with modernized, geometric elements and pleats.

The most exciting news for Alice fans is a recent collaboration between Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Disney to recreate the film in a more engaging way. Tim comments, "The story is obviously a classic with iconic images and ideas and thoughts. But with all the movie versions, well, I've just never seen one that really had an impact on me. It's just always a series of weird events."

Knowing Tim, audiences will get to dive deeper into the twisted minds of Alice's acquaintances and will discover a new, beautiful, darker side to the underlying stories that we may have missed before.

CIARLAbride is coming to NYC

Hello everyone! If you're in New York this next posting is for you!

To showcase the new Classic and Alice collections, I'll be heading to NYC on March 23rd to showcase my new line at The Roosevelt Hotel in collaboration with The Wedding Salon. If you are a bride and would like a free ticket to attend, please email me at jciarla@ciarla.com for the code.

The Alice Collection-Inspired by the topsy-turvy wonderland of fantasy and dreams, the Alice Collection is designed with two basic concepts in mind, color and proportion. The unique shapes and layering of metallic and silk fabrics will appeal to the fashionably modern bride who envisions a whimsical setting on her special day. Luxurious silks and rich color palettes bring a sophistication to this playful collection. Couture elements including hand-crafted rosettes, silk pleating and intricate piping details will ensure that these custom pieces are truly one of a kind for a one of a lifetime affair.

The Classic Collection-Inspired by both modern and vintage icons who celebrate a glamorous yet simplistic style that permeate an effortless aura of chic. The classic silhouette flatters all women's figures by mimicking the natural shape of a woman's body. Fitted a the top, cinched at the waist and completed with a circle skirt, the cut has a modern twist with a lower fitting waistband and usable pockets. With a variety of necklines and color combinations to choose from, a bride and her bridesmaid will have plenty of options to make this custom order dress a true gem to flatter her individual figure and the wedding itself.
